Program Council - Social work

The council of the Institute of Sociology consists of nearly 30 entities, including institutions, centers, associations, foundations and non-governmental organizations associated with the social assistance sector in Silesia. The core purpose of the Council is to link the activities and deepen the cooperation between the university and the social work environment. Multi-faceted cooperation includes, in the first instance, the organization of internships, diploma traineeships, student internships and volunteering. As part of the measures taken, Social Work students have the opportunity to develop the practical skills and competences necessary to provide professional assistance and support. The activity of the Program Council also creates space for scientific and research co-operation, both in research conducted in the university unit and in research areas resulting from the needs of the stakeholders. It fosters the exchange of experience among all members, giving the opportunity to discuss ideas and seek joint solutions. The involvement of partners in the development of the curricula also needs to be stressed, which allows for training in line with the expectations and needs of the labor market. The chairperson of the council is dr Ewa Leśniak-Berek.
